Aren’t My Wings Pretty?
March 18th, 2010
In my eternal youthful ignorance I used to think butterflies were not overly interesting. Devoid of personality and a bit smug when I caught them, they had a disdain I did not approve of. Then I went to the butterfly house at the Bronx Zoo and everything changed. I saw as if for the first time their little curled snouts, their dusty feet and teeny eyes and all of a sudden their colors blew me away. Their stumbling through the air like drunken sailors delighted me. Their camouflage abilities astounded me. I stand corrected.
